12 Angry Men

Movie: 12 Angry Men (1957)
AFI List: #87 on the 2007 list, was not included on the 1998 list.
My List: #21
Starring: Peter Fonda and the guy that did the voice for Piglet.
My rating:
˜˜˜˜˜

This was one movie that I had seen before and was excited to see again. It's not an action-packed movie or very exciting to watch. However, the story line stays with you, even after you've turned it off. The basic plot is about a jury of twelve men as they deliberate the guilt or innocence of a young man in the case of the murder of his father. The juror's vote must be unanimous. One juror has voted not guilty, and therefore, prolong the hours the jury must spend in a crowded room on a hot day.

"12 Angry Men explores many techniques of consensus-building, and the difficulties encountered in the process, among a group of men whose range of personalities adds intensity and conflict. Apart from two of the jurors swapping names while leaving the courthouse, no names are used in the film: the defendant is referred to as 'the boy' and the witnesses as the 'old man' and 'the lady across the street' "

I would recommend this movie to everyone. It's not one to watch over and over, but it does help to put things in perspective and remind a person to take the time to think things through and think before you pass judgement.

This movie sounds really interesting... Who doesn't need that lesson of thinking through things before passing judgment? I know I do! Anyway let us know when the first AFI Night will be. I am willing to see any of them!

PS the blog looks good all done!
